Aloha-Reedville Community Plan Officially Underway

Harvey the Rabbit, Reedville Oregon

The plan to improve Washington County continues, and it won't only focus on the cities. The county recently officially launched their Aloha-Reedville Community Plan, which will gather data and begin improvements for the two unincorporated communites around Beaverton.

As of now, Washington County is in the brainstorming stages of what is to be a three-year study. It will address everything from conditions of buildings and bus stops, to the 8.5 mile stretch of Tualatin Valley Highway that runs from SW Cedar Hills Boulevard, through Reedville and Aloha to Hillsboro. The latter will a project led by the Oregon Department of Transportation.

The Aloha-Reedville Community Plan was launched at a special open house that encouraged public attendance, the first of many community-input-driven events in the coming months. While the first year of the project will be largely gathering information and receiving suggestions from Aloha and Reedville, the second will focus on developing solutions. Those solutions could include drastic changes such as an urban renewal district like the one the City of Beaverton is planning, or special service districts.
