Beaverton Family YMCA Sold to Griffith Development

Beaverton Family YMCA sold

Another big Washington County sale is on the books, as Griffith Development LLC has purchased the gym housing the Beaverton Family YMCA. The sale, which closed Monday afternoon for $1.28 million, followed the settling of a $1.5 million lawsuit between the nonprofit YMCA of Columbia-Willamette and the previous building owner, Pardee Properties.

As part of the settlement, the YMCA gym will close on July 29th, eventually transferring their gym members to the nearby Beaverton Hoop YMCA, ending all financial obligations to Pardee by the end of August.

At that point, Griffith Development will full remodel the space, giving it new equipment and an aesthetic makeover and reopening it in time for fall 2012.

The gym's update will make it a "health club," according to ADA and fire protection standards, ensuring that corner of Beaverton remains full-service fitness-friendly.
